Weight Loss Tips

  1. Drink more water - At least 64 ounces a day
  2. Take the stairs whenever possible
  3. Exercise everyday - even if only for 10 or 15 minutes
  4. Eat more, smaller meals throughout the day - This will help stabalize your blood sugar
  5. Avoid sugar and other "empty calories"
  6. Increase your fiber intake
  7. Reduce your caffiene intake (This one is tough for me!)
  8. Find a lifestyle nutrition program that works for you. It needs to be one you can stick with. Low fat, low carb, etc. Make sure it fits your needs and your lifestyle.
  9. Use resistance training as well as aerobic exercise
  10. Vary your workout so you don't get bored
  11. Pregnant? PLEASE talk with your doctor before starting a workout routine. You will need to modify some exercises.

Motivation Tips

  1. Use a diet buddy - It is always easier to stick to something if you have support!
  2. Break down your goals into smaller goals.
  3. Make a 'fitness scrapbook'. Find motivational pictures of people working out, eating right and living healthy. Look at it when you feel you need extra motivation.
  4. Reward yourself for a job well done! But don't use food. Try to find something else you enjoy and justify it as a reward!
  5. Weigh yourself and/or take measurements once a week. It is important to see how you are progressing
  6. Keep a journal or diary of your progress. It helps to be able to write your emotions and thoughts through this journey.

Health Tips

  1. Make sure to take a daily vitamin
  2. Lots and lots of water, 64 ounces at LEAST, everday!
  3. Do you smoke? Well stop. You know it's bad for you :)
  4. Don't skip meals - it affects your blood sugar, moods and will make you sleepy.
  5. It's all about moderation - don't deprive yourself, just everything in moderation.

Mental Health Tips

  1. Make time for you. 'Me time' is overlooked far too often.
  2. Learn to relax. Take up yoga or take time to meditate every day.
  3. Get PLENTLY of sleep each night.
  4. Treat yourself to a massage - you deserve it and you know it :)
  5. Frustrated? Take some time for yourself and go for a walk.
